challenge

Michael Bloomberg, businessman and former mayor of New York City, wanted to gift a high-end coffee table book to commemorate Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer's administration’s accomplishments over the past 12 years. A tight timeline made moving quickly on a content outline, design concept and printer contract essential.

Strategy

We worked to draft a 144-page book on a deadline that left just six weeks to send the completed files to the printer.  I developed a unique design that featured key Louisville highlights, including the city’s colors, fleur de lis emblem and a vellum-printed map of its major streets and landmark river. I partnered with BookArts in D.C. to create the highest possible quality product.

Blurry Background

impact

The work received an American Advertising Award for book design, and Mayor Fischer effusively praised it as “a piece of art and substance that will pass the test of time like a fine bourbon — just getting better as it ages.”
